The objects created by Polish sculptor Cezary Poniatowski are imbued with obsessive manipulation. Often turning common objects into unrecognizable entities, fracturing the known world-structure of tools, equipment and use-values. It’s not just intentional interventions that transform these objects, he also harnesses natural deterioration processes through which the microbial decomposition of organic substances give these assemblages a time-bound dimension. Within Metabolic Rift the installation Compost will be presented in a new formation, adapted to its current exhibition setting.
